Gas line break prompts evacuation in downtown Kansas City, Mo.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Workers in downtown Kansas City had to evacuate after crews struck a natural gas line near 8th and Main streets.

People inside the building at 811 Main were evacuated. First responders then checked all buildings from 7th to 10th streets along Main.

Main was closed from 8th to 10th Street. Ninth Street, from Grand to Walnut was also closed. Roads reopened and workers returned to their offices around 11:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
