KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The grand opening of One Light in the Power and Light District is happening Tuesday afternoon.
The 25-story apartment tower is the latest addition to the city's skyline.
”It's the type of building that is going to draw people not just from other parts of Kansas City and the metro who want to live and experience downtown but really from all over the country,” Nick Benjamin, executive director of Power and Light District, said.
There are 307 units within the building. Each apartment comes with amenities like floor-to-ceiling windows and luxury appliances.
New residents began moving in Nov. 23. Building management hopes to have everyone in their new apartment by March.
One resident really wanted to be a part of the One Light community. He's commuting to and from Topeka every day.
”Just how unique it is, a brand new building, it's going to be a very fun opportunity. The amenities are awesome, so going to do a lot of networking with a lot of really cool people, that's why I chose it, and the pool is really nice too,” Brandon Fischer, a tenant at One Light, said.
Mayor Sly James will be among the dignitaries attending the grand opening ceremony set for 4 p.m.
EDITOR'S NOTE:A previous version of this story said there were 370 apartment units. The actual number is 307. We apologize for the error.
