Great Plains SPCA asks for help finding dog that was stolen from its facility

MERRIAM, Kan. - The Great Plains SPCA is asking for your help to find a dog that was stolen from its facility.

A couple brought a cockapoo named Alfie to the Merriam Lost Pet Center. They found the dog wandering near I-35.

While the dog was being dropped off, a family came in, saw the dog and asked if they could adopt him. The SPCA staff said no because they had discovered Alfie already had a family and had five days to claim him.

The couple who found the dog were outside with Alfie when the other family left the SPCA. They gave the family the dog claiming the father said they were allowed to adopt the dog.

The Great Plains SPCA posted the story to its Facebook page to spread the word and help return Alfie to his family.

If you know who has the dog, call the SPCA at 913-742-7307.
