KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Construction on another GO KC Project is now underway.

Voters passed the GO bond in April. Part of it was $800 million for capital improvements across the city over the next 20 years.

Friday city leaders broke ground on an improvement project along 22nd and 23rd Street between Brooklyn and Benton Boulevard.

Kansas City Councilman Jermaine Reed said it's a $2.9 million project that will repair curbs and sidewalks, as well as expand the road.

"Everyone is certainly proud about where they live, and certainly proud to be Kansas Citians, but more important when improvements are able to come along like what we have here we're able to see the pride boost even farther," Reed said.

This project is expected to wrap up in about a year.
