KANSAS CITY, Mo. - On Saturday afternoon, the group Organizing for Action gathered to thank Congressman Emanuel Cleaver for supporting immigration reform.
But despite the thank you, volunteers urged the congressman to speak with his colleagues to convince them to pass reforms.
"What we'd like to do is see our Kansas Citians and local residents take action and stand up for their neighbors, our neighbors here and get in contact with congress and say we need a vote," OFA member Amber Versola said.
Lawmakers are expected to debate immigration reform when they return from vacation.
