KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Volunteers at one Kansas City park say their work is helping keep people safe.
Members of the Earth Riders Trail Association are building two miles of trails through Roanoke Park. The trails are part of the Roanoke Park Improvement Plan.
The group is using axes, sledge hammers and chisels to remove the rocks and weeks. Once they are finished, the trails will connect the Roanoke, Valentine, Volker and Coleman Highlands neighborhoods.
"Trails are important to not only connect people with the land, connects people to economic opportunity, just community sustainability is what we are after," said volunteer Brett Shoffner.
The group has already created trails in Swope Park.
