KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A group of Kansas City Public Schools students are competing in a gingerbread house competition -- and you could be the judge.
KCPS culinary students are competing in the Manual Career and Technical Center's 20th annual gingerbread house contest. This year, visitors at Union Station will determine who wins.
Judging criteria includes creativity, clean trim, completeness of the houses and overall appearance.
The students who entered should be well-prepared.
"I showed them how to use a t-square to draw up their plans, and then I showed them how to make the dough and roll the dough out, how to bake it, how to trim it and how to bring it back after they had baked it and how to put stain glass windows in it," said Dennis Charest, culinary arts instructor.
The gingerbread houses will be on display at Union Station through Dec. 18.
