Remember when you were little and really wanted a pony?

Now is your chance to make your childhood dreams come true, well sort of….

Twenty wild horses and five burros will be up for adoption on July 14-16 at the Missouri State Fair Grounds in Sedalia, Missouri.

The Bureau of Land Management is putting the horses up for adoption as they remove excess wild horses and burros from the range to sustain the health and productivity of public lands.

There may be a few horses available that are only a year old and the burros will range anywhere up to 5-years-old. The horses will be available for preview and you can submit your applications starting at 9 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Adoptions end at 5 p.m. each day.

You can adopt animals less than 3-years-old for $125. A second animal may be adopted for $25, which is the same price for an animal older than three years.

You must be at least 18-years-old to adopt and provide an enclosed facility and proper care for the animal. Corrals must be at least 20’x20’ and 6’ high for an adult horse and no less than 5’ high for horses younger than 18 months. Any horses adopted must be taken home in a stock-type, step up trailer.

For more information about adopting, call 1-866-4MUSTANGS or visit their website here.
