The “Wizard of Oz” recently reached a milestone. August 25 marked 77 years since the release of the movie.
Some Kansas City locals got to share in the excitement this year. Residents of The Fountains at Greenbriar in Independence, Missouri paid a visit to the museum earlier this summer.
They learned about the author of the books and the making of the movie, plus how it has influenced culture.
The group enjoyed reminiscing about their favorite personal Oz memories.
“I recall watching this when I was a little girl,” Dorothy Frederick said. “I never liked the wicked witch scenes, but it was all alright when Dorothy melted her!”
Marsha Leizer added, “I always loved this movie when I was a little girl. When I saw the color for the first time in a movie I was amazed!”
