It is probably fair to say that the Kansas City Royals' season has run a little hot and cold. This week, though, it will be on the hot side at The K no matter the score.

Amanda Turk, Manager of Publicity for the team, says they are doing everything they can to make the ballpark experience safe, healthy and fun during this scorching heat wave.

First of all, it really comes down to three words: “Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate!”

There are good fluids and not-so-good fluids when it comes to hydration.

Alcohol and caffeine do not help you stay hydrated. For every beer you have, you need to drink an equal (or a little more) amount of water.

There are complimentary water stations throughout the stadium and you can bring sealed water and sports drinks, one liter or smaller, into the stadium on these hot days.

Cooling stations, with misting fans, are located at Gate B and at The Outfield Experience.

While heat is the ongoing theme these days, Amanda also wants folks to know about other fun things happening at the old ball yard.

When you buy the theme ticket for Thursday’s game you get a gadget to celebrate Tech Night.

Friday is Mizzou night. Sunday is Marvel Comics day. There’s a Gordo Nation game coming up with a special t-shirt, and in a few weeks there will be a Star Wars day with a Drew Butera mini-statue.

But, again, for the next several days, the real idea is to keep the fans cool -- and the bats hot!
