Raytown's city manager is leaving for a new job. Mahesh Sharma has accepted a similar position in Scott County, Iowa.
Scott County is part of the Quad Cities area on the Mississippi River bordering Illinois.
A vote to formalize the deal is set for Thursday night in Iowa.
Sharma tells 41 Action News he's given Scott County leaders a tentative start date of July 5.
Sharma has been Raytown city administrator for more than eight years. He says he'll decide on a departure date from Raytown in the next couple of days after Scott County's formal vote.
"This is a great opportunity in a larger community," Sharma said.
Sharma leaves while a dispute about the city's Wal-Mart development is ongoing. However, Sharma says that issue is not a factor in his decision to take the new job.
