A top staff member for the city of Raytown may be on the way out.
City Administrator Mahesh Sharma is listed as a finalist for a similar job on the Scott County, Iowa, website. Scott County is part of the Quad cities area of eastern Iowa and western Illinois with Davenport the county seat.
Sharma has been a Raytown city administrator since 2008.
As 41 Action News first reported Tuesday night, Raytown is facing a possible financial crisis due to the city’s Walmart development deal. Payments on a roughly $40 million loan for the project are scheduled to rise significantly in the next few years.
Due to lagging tax receipts from the project, it’s unclear how the city will make those payments.
Multiple calls to Sharma have not been returned.
