"Poverty is growing so rampantly in Johnson County that each year, we're sending out more and more applications, and all of our applications were filled by last Friday," said Barb McNeile with the Johnson County Christmas Bureau.
The bureau hopes people will look in their closets and find coats to donate. They especially need children's sizes.
The organization is also in need of groceries, including canned goods, peanut butter, boxed dinners, flour and sugar. Personal care items, toys, adult gifts and monetary donations and gift cards are also needed.
