KANSAS CITY - Angela's Angels unexpectedly shutdown indefinitely Tuesday, leaving dozens of parents looking for a new day care center.
Parents trying to drop off their kids found a note on the door from owner Angela Harbin saying the facility was closings "due to circumstances beyond our control."
Parents told 41 Action News they had no warning and were forced to scramble to find alternate care for their kids. One mother said she almost lost her job while searching for another day care.
Records from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services showed Angela's Angels was put on an 18-month probation in January because of violations of child to staff ratios and nutritional guidelines.
However, a spokesperson from MDHH said the agency did not have anything to do with Tuesday's closure.
41 Action News went Harbin's home to get an explanation. She put the blame on the parents, saying there were several parents with outstanding bills.
Harbin said she was not getting enough money from parents to pay her employees and cover expenses, which is why she had to close down.
Harbin had no explanation for why she gave parents no warning.
