KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Fire Department is "stunned and saddened" by Monday morning's events in Webster, N.Y., the KCFD chief said in a statement.
Two volunteer firefighters were killed and two others injured in an apparent trap shooting early Monday in Webster, in upstate New York near Rochester, authorities said.
"Our deepest condolences go to their families and their coworkers," KCFD Chief Paul Berardi said, "with whom we share a deeply held commitment to service and protection, and to their community as they weather this senseless act of violence."
The alleged gunman in New York was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound on the scene.
