Kansas City, Kan., seminary student prays for peace alongside Pope

GOLAN HEIGHTS - President Obama plans a full court press this weekend to garner support in congress for military action against Syria.

At the same time, a seminary student from the Kansas City, Kan., Diocese will be praying for peace.

Agustin Martinez is in his second year of seminary in Rome.

He spent last month at a camp in the Golan Heights, just across the border from Syria.

On Saturday, he will serve alongside Pope Francis at a prayer vigil for peace in St. Peter's square.

"The call to peace that the pope made was a call to humanity to look into our hearts, to look into the goodness of our nature and see that we all belong to peace and that we should live peacefully," Martinez said.

Martinez told 41 Action News the pope is calling on people of all faiths and backgrounds to join in prayer this weekend.
