The City of Kansas City has roughly 20 charter schools within KCPS school boundaries.

The newest charter school in the metro will receive $500,000 over the next two years.

Kansas City Neighborhood Academy will receive a $500,000 investment from SchoolSmartKC. The organization is committed to eliminating the achievement gap in Kansas City within the next 10 years.

Kansas City Neighborhood Academy is a local charter school that is sponsored by KCPS.

Awais Sufi is the president and CEO of SchoolSmartKC.

"We are very much looking at providing support across the board to the schools that are performing effectively or have the ability to perform at the level we are achieving to hit, which is the state level," said Sufi.

Sufi said KCNA represents the best in Kansas City with it's neighborhood, business and community partnerships.
