KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A social media post using rape as an advertising tool for a Kansas City nightclub did not receive the response the club likely desired. AURA nightclub, located on Main Street near E 39th Street, posted the message on both its Twitter and Facebook accounts Tuesday afternoon.
The post read: "HOT ANNOUNCEMENT: AURA introduces the anti-rape program... We won't RAPE you on prices on NYE on "all inclusives" where they run out of liquor at 11 pm hahaha"
About 6 p.m., the Facebook post had been deleted, while the tweet had been deleted and the @Aura_KC account had been closed. Hundreds of tweets and Facebook comments were posted following the remark.
Multiple attempts to reach club management for comment were unsuccessful, but the club appeared to be preparing for business about 9 p.m.
