KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Construction and an increase in people living and working downtown have Kansas City officials adding new parking restrictions.
Drivers heading downtown can park in passenger loading and unloading zones for a maximum of 10 minutes.
The time restriction for commercial loading and unloading zones is 30 minutes.
In both zones, drivers are required to keep their hazard lights flashing.
Drivers also have to park at least eight feet from the soon-to-come streetcar.
"We're doing that early so that we can allow people to get use to the changes, get used to where to park, so that we don't have any surprises once the streetcar comes in," Public Works Spokesman Sean Demory said.
Violators could have their car towed and face fines up to $500.
