Medical supplies from Kansas City will be heading to Florida later Wednesday morning.
Two local nonprofits have teamed up to help those affected by Hurricane Irma.
Heart to Heart International is sending supplies, medicine, and manpower to Ft. Myers.
Angel Flight is donating the private jet to get them there. This is particularly important since many Florida roads are still in a state of disaster. It’s been a challenge for supply trucks to get through quickly.
Once volunteers arrive they will treat people hurt during the storm or injured trying to clean up their homes.
Emergency rooms in southwest Florida are slammed right now, and many walk-in clinics are still without power. Volunteers from Heart to Heart International hope to provide some relief.
Volunteers will be working out of a mobile unit. Until recently it had been serving Hurricane Harvey victims in Houston.

Heart to Heart International also partnered with a group called Save the Children and shipped 35 pallets of Johnson and Johnson products to Texas yesterday.
The Angel Flight is set to leave New Century Airport at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
