KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A utility worker is recovering at North Kansas City Hospital after being shocked while replacing a valve on a water line Sunday afternoon.
In incident occurred near NE 53rd Street and N. Sycamore Drive in Clay County. The workers were replacing a valve on a 12-inch water line when the worker was shocked.
According the Kansas City Water Department spokesperson Jennifer Kincaid, the site was checked prior work beginning. She noted that department employees work around other utilities often, and Kansas City Power and Light had been to the work site to ensure safety.
Kincaid also said the worker is expected to fully recover, and there were no other injuries on the scene.
