KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Bundle up, baby, it's cold in Kansas City! The hottest ticket in town could be for the coldest game in league history.
From furry hats and hoods to scarves and gloves, shoppers ducked in and out of stores finishing their Christmas lists.
Ronnie Perkins patiently rings his bell at his Salvation Army post on the Plaza. His heart is warm if nothing else. He's wearing five layers to keep him warm on his ten hour shift.
But what about all those Sporting KC fans who will cheer on the team for hours when they take on Salt Lake City?
All of the warm Sporting KC gear is flying off the shelves. We found people clamoring for sweatshirts and dwindling supplies of stocking caps at the Rally House store on the Plaza. The scarves and blankets are long gone.
"We pretty much have to tell people when they come in before they ask, 'we're out of scarves!'" Dirk Liebert of Rally House said.
Daniel Singer, a soccer fan since age three, came in to buy some warm gear for the game tomorrow. "
Sweatshirts, one for me, one for the wife," he said.
Sporting KC takes on Real Salt Lake at 3 p.m. Saturday.
