If you attended this past Sunday’s Kansas City Royals game you were among a group of young fans smiling from ear to ear as they cheered on our boys in blue.

Two dozen children watched as the Royals beat the Chicago White Sox, and it was the Kansas City Fraternal Order of Police who helped land them those seats.

The day at the ballpark was organized by KC FOP to show its support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City. The children and their Big Brothers/Big Sisters were given tickets, T-shirts and food vouchers for the game.

Recently, the KC FOP started a new organization, the Kansas City Police Officers Memorial Foundation, dedicated to supporting police officers and building a stronger bond with the community. Several Kansas City, Missouri, police officers joined the children at Sunday’s game.

"We want to be involved with our youth and show them police officers are here to help. This event was just one way to give back and everyone had a really good time," said FOP President Brad Lemon.
