KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Police were called out for an incident involving Mayor Sly James' son early Friday morning.
At 2:47 a.m., police say they responded to a disturbance at 6327 Brookside. They found a drunk, belligerent and uncooperative Kyle James with minor scratches on his face.
James reportedly got into a bar fight in Brookside that spilled out onto the street. Witnesses say he was kicked in the face and head.
"The mayor is obviously concerned about his son, but we are going to keep doing what we are doing in the mayor's office and try not to let it affect our agenda going forward," the mayor's spokesman, Danny Rotert, said. "Obviously, it weighs on the mayor, and he is concerned about trying to protect his son."
While an ambulance was ordered, police say James refused treatment at the scene. Officers gave him a courtesy ride home.
