KC neighborhood along Independence Avenue ranked one of the 25 most dangerous in the U.S.

KANSAS CITY, Missouri - For the second year in a row, Kansas City, Missouri is among the cities with one of the 25 most dangerous neighborhoods in the United States.

Walletpop.com bloggers published the list online , using a combination of FBI data and reports from NeighborhoodScout.com.

The list includes a Kansas City, Missouri area in the 64106 zip code as the 23rd most dangerous neighborhood in the country.

The neighborhood is bordered by Independence Avenue on the north, 10th Street on the south, Troost Avenue on the west and Woodland Avenue on the east.

NeighborhoodScout predicts 82 violent crimes occur there in a year, with 81.97 violent crimes per 1,000 people. The say your chances of becoming a victim in that area in one year are 1 in 12.

The group also publishes an annual list of the Top 100 Most Dangerous Cities in the U.S.

On that list, Kansas City, Missouri is 59th; KCK is 54th and Joplin, Missouri ranks 53rd. St. Louis, Missouri is number 7. The most dangerous city on the list is Edinburg, Texas which is near the US border with Mexico.

No local cities made the NeighborhoodScout list of 100 safest cities in the U.S.   Saint Peters, Missouri is the 55th safest city and O’Fallon, Missouri is number 69. Manhattan, Kansas is number 44. Jackson, New Jersey was the number one safest city according to their list.
