Kansas City WWII veteran shares his story on D-Day

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - We're losing WWII veterans at a rate of almost 600 per day. One Kansas vet says most of his friends from the war are already gone. According to the National World War II Museum, we will likely lose all of our WWII veterans by 2036. Fewer than 10,000 veterans live in Kansas and just over 20,000 live in Missouri.

One of those Kansas veterans is Jean LePage. He will turn 93 soon, a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge and three campaigns. He says he feels like a kindred spirit to the veterans returning from war today. He admits he lives in the past but looks forward for future generations and hopes they won't forget what the greatest generation accomplished.
