KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The University of Kansas Hospital announced it will build a brand new, 92-bed hospital building on its Kansas City, Kan., campus.
The plan is already buzzing in the philanthropic community and donors pledged Monday to donate more than $3 million toward the project.
“It doesn’t help us to turn patients away because we don’t have space. So we’ve got basically a billion dollar project in mind to go north of our campus and to accommodate volumes of patients that people haven’t even thought of,” President and CEO of University of Kansas Hospital Bob Page said.
Hospital officials said they would like to start construction soon, but the date will depend largely on donations.
