For a group of Pioneer Ridge Middle School students, the word Terra has two meanings.

You see Terra means land in Italian, so it's fitting that they meet at the Independence grocery, that carries the same name, while they discuss plans for their summer trip to Italy.

"When you finally feel where you are not comfortable, that's where you learn," said Pioneer Ridge Middle School teacher, Kayla Sager.

Sager is planning the trip to Venice, Rome and Pompeii that a dozen of her students will take with her this July.

Because she doesn't want cost to be a barrier, she's helping them raise money so no one misses out.

"When they donate, they are fueling that education of that child that globally will impact them for years and years to come. There's no second chances for these students," said the teacher, who just last year took students to the United Kingdom.
