NBC’S premiere 'World of Dance' is a competition show that brings some of the world's best dancers under one roof to compete.

You may see a familiar face, as one of those dancers grew up right here in the KC metro area.

His name is Blake Piatczyc from Lee's Summit, Missouri.

"I love that dance is self-expression," Piatczyc said.

Since he was seven years old, Piatczyc hasn't stopped dancing.

"It's like self-healing, it's nice," he said.

His passion continues to bring him on the big screen from "America's Got Talent" to "World of Dance."

"We walked in on this competition for the first time and it was scary, everyone there is amazing," Piatczyc said. "You have Beyonce backup dancers, backup dancers for J.Lo, one of the judges," he said. "So even going in on this competition, and just being a part of the best of the best, it's an amazing feeling."

While he's taking his talents on screen, he's also bringing them off screen right here at his new dance studio.

"I really wanted to create that for some kids locally here as well," Piatczyc said. "I wanted to create an elite studio in Lee's Summit that really really is able to train and build kids for whatever they want to do in life."

"How he moves, and his movement, it's a lot different from everybody else's so it was kind of cool to get to know his style," Piatczyc's student, Austyn Payton said.

His students were pretty excited about their teacher being on World of Dance.

"That's a huge honor to be able to be dancing with someone who's been as successful as that," student Garrett Richardson said.

"As a student, it's like wow my dance teacher is very successful," student Sophie Richardson said. "I just feel like we have the best of the best with that."

Piatczyc says he can't say much about the show or give any spoilers.

"I'm really excited for you to see what happens," he said with excitement. "That's all I can really say! Stay tuned!"

He's excited for the world to see a little bit of KC.

"We're something to be reckoned with," Piatcyzc said. "You have LA, you have New York, and right in the middle, we got the talent too, it's pretty cool."

World of Dance premieres Tuesday at 9 p.m.
