Local group gives cars to veterans in need

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Saturday, Cars 4 Heroes gave away two cars to veterans.

"My car was breaking down. I don't have AC. I live 30 miles from my job so it takes a toll on everything," said Sgt. Joanne Fulton, Army.

The Kansas City based organization has been donating cars to veterans for more than 20 years.

"We thought we were doing something good with a car lot I owned and it grew and it was more important and we kept doing it so now it is full time," said Terry Franz with Cars 4 Heroes.

The two women who were awarded cars Saturday served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"I just want to squeal and I'm not a squealer. This is so great. My brain is like really is this happening right now," said Victoria Young, retired Navy.

The veterans had been having car trouble and it affected them getting to work.

"There is no check engine light. It's idling and my old car wouldn't do that so it's super incredible," said Young.

Next week, Cars 4 Heroes will donate a car to a veteran in Arizona.
