A local mom who turned a tragic accident into her life's mission is being honored.
One year ago, Casey Jordan's daughter survived after a car backed over her.
Since then, Jordan has dedicated her life to making sure other families don't go through what they went through.
Jordan has worked diligently with KidsandCars.org, a Kansas City-based group raising awareness for accidents like hers. So much so, the organization named her an “Exceptional Mother of Inspiration.”
"This is another way to get Skye's story out to others, get the awareness that back-over accidents are out there, they happen,” Jordan said. “It's just to keep children safe. So it's just another way to reach out to families."
Her work has paid off. By 2018, federal law will require all vehicles to have backup cameras.
