After the last day of the Rhythm 'N Balloons event was suddenly canceled, local charities are coming forward asking for answers.

"We held up our end of the agreement by bringing 35 volunteers, and I feel they should hold their end of the agreement as well," explained Goldie Arnold, president of Northland Animal Welfare Society.

Multiple suppliers and vendors are wanting their money from Robbie and Steve Small, who own Rhythm 'N Balloons.

41 Action News stopped by their home in Leawood on Monday. Organizer Steve Small declined to go on camera but said he was "devastated" by the cancellation. Steve Small explained that the event was called off due to soggy grounds and windy conditions on Sunday.

Steve Small said he is "trying to recover" following the cancellation, and he would reach out to vendors about compensation.
