KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Despite sustaining an injury in World War II, one local veteran is not letting anything slow him down.
Twice a week, 89-year-old veteran Frank Royer continues to give back to the community by volunteering. On Tuesdays, he volunteers at the VA, and on Fridays he volunteers at Saint Luke’s North.
“I think it keeps your mind active,” Royer said of volunteering.
Even though he has Macular Degeneration, Royer has continued to volunteer each week, for the past 30-plus years.
Royer does everything from doing the laundry and wiping down the machines, to ordering supplies needed for the upcoming year.
It’s a passion that keeps Royer going. “I really love doing my volunteer work,” he said.
