Local wounded veteran gets customized wheelchair

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - As part of Military Appreciation Month, Freedom Alliance donated an all-terrain wheelchair to Sergeant Matt Amos on Thursday.

The Marine lost both of his legs and suffered internal injuries three years ago in Afghanistan. After multiple surgeries, he is recovering, but as an outdoorsman, a traditional wheelchair just wasn’t cutting it for him.

“You always find a way to adapt and overcome and make the most of what’s happened to you, so you always find a way. But this chair is obviously going to make it a ton easier to do those things,” Amos said.

This is the second wheelchair Freedom Alliance has donated to a wounded service member and they plan to donate more.
