KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police have taken a man into custody after a four-hour standoff at a motel near I-29 and Barry Rd.
Police were called to the motel in the 8200 block fo NW Prairie View Rd. for an armed, suicidal person. Nearby roadways were closed off as police tried to make contact with the man.
At one point, the southbound lanes of I-29 near Barry Rd. were closed as a safety precaution.
After speaking with negotiators, the man finally exited the motel around 8:30 p.m. and surrendered to officers without incident.
The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Area roadways have since reopened.
