Shortly after 1 a.m. on Thursday, three men robbed a man in Independence, Missouri. Police say one of the suspects had a gun.
The armed robbery occurred in the area of 23rd Street and Hub Drive near MO 291 Highway. Within minutes of the call, police officers were able to locate the suspect in a vehicle heading southbound on Missouri 291 Highway toward Lee's Summit, MO. The Independence Police Department received assistance from several other law enforcement agencies.
According to police, the suspect was followed by police into Lee's Summit until emergency equipment was activated in the area of I-470 and Colbern Road. The driver of the suspect vehicle failed to stop for police and attempted to flee. The suspect vehicle fled for no more than 15 seconds until it lost control and left the roadway near I-470 and Colbern Road. After an extensive search, two suspects were taken into custody.
