KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A generous donation will keep an iconic Kansas City fountain running while saving the city money.
Pump manufacturer Grundfos donated a new pump for the J.C. Nichols Memorial Fountain, which crews installed Tuesday. The company also donated all the time and materials.
The pump is 60 percent more energy efficient than the previous one—which could save the city more than $10,000 per year.
“It just seemed like the natural thing to do to provide an energy efficient solution that the city will benefit for years to come,” Marketing Manager for Grundfos Bjorn Adolfsson said.
The fountain will be turned on during Fountain Day on Tuesday, April 8.
