KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Mayor Sly James announced plans to increase economic development in east Kansas City.
This includes the creation of a special impact district to target areas that need the most help.
The Mayor said the first step in that process is the street car expansion.
“It was not by happenstance or accident or fluke that we decided to go east on this expansion,” Mayor James said. “We are doing this because we believe it will be a catalyst to develop and help improve economic prosperity.”
The Mayor said even if the expansion doesn’t pass the city will still work to develop the area.
