Memorial to be held for Ella the deer

KANSAS CITY, Mo - On Saturday, a memorial service will honor Ella the deer.

She is the deer that lived in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Saturday morning at 11, people will gather at the cemetery to honor Ella.

Kids who attended the Great Plains SPCA summer camp will read cards they made for her.

The man who shot Ella with an arrow paid a $375 fine for killing a deer out of season.

Phoenix Vankirk said he didn't realize she was tame, and said he was trying to feed his family.
