It's been a packed house this weekend at the Deer Creek Golf Course in Overland Park, Kansas.

Although an unusual time for the warm weather, golfers say they're taking advantage of it.

"This is pretty unfamiliar," golfer John Dougherty said. "I don’t remember having a winter like this so it’s just unbelievable to have this much warm weather for this long has been fantastic," golfer Tom Blanca said. "We’re loving it."

Head golf professional with Deer Creek, Miles Tucker, says it has been very busy.

"Over the weekend, we’ve done way more rounds than we would normally do in a normal February," Tucker said. "Every tee time was taken from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., so it’s been busy."

With the recent increase in temperatures so early in the year, Tucker says he's already seeing the impact in numbers.

"Last year, we did actually double than what we did in 2015, and we’re probably going to double that again this year to do well over 1000 rounds, which for February is pretty enormous for us," Tucker said.

While the area golfers don't seem to mind the quick change in weather, Tucker says staffing for these surprise warm days does take some time planning.

"This time of year, we typically don’t even write schedules for our outside services staff and marshals and starters," he said. "So we kind of take a look at our ten day forecast and if I think it’s going to be like it has been this weekend, we try to get ahead of it as much as possible and get those people in and get as much staff in here as we can to make our operation as smooth as possible."

Tucker believes the course will be seeing a lot more golfers this week, as warmer days are in the forecast.
