KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A new restaurant is bringing the flavors of New Orleans to the City Market.
The new eatery, bei∙gnet, opened Saturday, May 25, at 307 Main Street. Owner and chef Bryan Merker says it will provide more than its namesake treats - though there will be plenty of those, too. Among the promised fare: cornbread crepes and savory beignets in a variety of flavors, some featuring cornmeal-dusted catfish, andouille sausage and two kinds of bacon, according to a news release.
The sweet crepes and beignets offered include traditional, chocolate-covered raspberry and brie and berry, among others.
Merker, a Kansas City native, has worked across the U.S., including New Orleans. He and his wife, Monica Merker, also own and operate Nica's 320.
