KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Missouri Governor Jay Nixon pushed Missouri auto jobs Monday as he joined officials at the Ford unveiling of its 2015 truck, the Ford F-150.
The truck will be built at Kansas City's assembly plant in Claycomo.
Nixon said Missouri's low taxes and skilled workforce keep bringing jobs to the area. Top executives at Ford said they are pleased with the progress.
"We've added a shift last year. We added 900 jobs to the third shift to produce our current f-series and the investment we've made in the plant, both for the transit and for this f-series, bodes really well for the area and the community," Chief Operation Officer Mark Fields said.
The new truck is about 700 pounds lighter and includes video cameras to make backing up easier.
