KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Groundbreaking on a new hotel in downtown Kansas City, Mo., is scheduled for early next year.
Chartwell Hospitality is the developer of the project that will bring a 10-story hotel to Kansas City's Crossroads District . The 190,000 sq. ft. facility will be a Marriott Courtyard and a Residence Inn. In all, 257 rooms.

The Marriott Courtyard will have 153 rooms and the Residence Inn will have 104.
The hotel will be built between 16th and Main and Baltimore. The "L-shaped" facility also includes a 69,000 sq. ft. garage.
Will Schaedle with Chartwells told 41 Action News the project will not include any tax incentives and will be privately funded.
The hotel will be the first hotel built in the downtown area since 1985.
