The school day is a grind at Winnetonka High School, but in the best and most flavorful of ways!

Winnetonka High is the home of Tonka Pride and the Griffins!

So, it is only natural that the new coffee shop on site is called Griffin Grounds.

In partnership with The Roasterie of Kansas City, students with special needs run the business. They prepare the coffee, cider and hot chocolate for students and teachers who stop by the counter and, they also make deliveries throughout the building.

According to Assistant Principal Dr. Dwayne Smith, who came up with the tasteful idea, the goal is to “promote a positive culture” while giving students a chance to learn practical job skills.

Caleb Smith, a freshman barista, loves the work and the opportunity to be an important part of starting the day right at his school.

Griffin Grounds is only a couple of weeks old, but already has the whole school waking up to the best of possibilities!
