NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Students in the North Kansas City School district are getting faster and more convenient Internet access.
The school district received the "Gift of a Gig," thanks to LinkCity and DataShack. The district's community partners are giving the district access to a gigabyte, which will quadruple the district's Internet access. The gift saves the district nearly $400,000.
The district's previous 250 megabyte Internet connection left students waiting for pages to load at peak usage times during the school day.
The district has also added Wi-Fi access to four of the district's activity buses. They will transport students who travel an hour our longer for class trips or after school activities, so they can do homework during the drive.
The bus will be connected using a mobile Wi-Fi the district purchased from Verizon Wireless.
