GLADSTONE, Mo. - Northlanders can now sign-up for Google Fiber if their “fiberhoods” qualify.
Steve Cobb has been trying to rally his Gladstone neighbors to pre-register for Google Fiber service. But with just weeks left and the city-wide hype largely dissipated, he's worried his neighborhood will be left behind.
From creating a website, several flyers, holding meetings, giving away prizes and knocking on more than 800 doors, Cobb and neighbor Dempsey Yearry have worked tirelessly the last two months to get more than 180 of their neighbors signed up. They fear the last 37 they need they won't be able to find.
The biggest misconceptions they fight are neighbors who don't understand that they can't wait; that if their fiberhood doesn't pre-qualify, no one will be able to get Google Fiber.
Cobb also fears if his Gladstone neighborhood doesn't qualify, his home won't be ready for advancing technology in the years to come.
