Hey, Johnny 5 and Robby and Wall-E! You, too, Rosie from The Jetsons!

There’s a new 'bot in town: Ironhide!

From the halls of Olathe Northwest High School, this combat robot rolled into the Bots KC regional competition earlier this month and won it all.

Next stop: nationals!

Of course, the little battler has a team of brilliant students in his corner: Noah Imel, Shivum Dang, Jared Haworth, Nathan Sparks and Ryan McIlvaine.

According to Aerospace and Engineering Instructor, Matt Peterie, the team not only had to win the one on one confrontation but present the specs and paperwork, too.

From the classroom to the metal shop to the “Blast Box," Team Ironhide tests and perfects the weaponry.

Beyond the fun and thrill of competing, the goal is to take what’s learned and discovered and apply it to helping humans in the real world.

But, for now, in this galaxy not so far away, Ironhide is giving C3PO, R2D2 and BB-8 a run — er, roll —for their money.
