Police say deer caused Northland motorcycle wreck that killed adult, injured child

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - One adult was killed and a child was injured in a motorcycle crash in the Northland on Friday evening.

The wreck occurred just before 7 p.m. on the southbound lanes of Interstate 435 at NE 96th Street. According to police, the crash was caused by a deer on the highway.

The driver of the motorcycle died on the scene. A child riding on the motorcycle was also hurt, but police described the child's injuries as non-life-threatening.

The southbound lanes of I-435 at NE Cookingham Drive were shut down after the wreck. They were opened around two hours later.
