LINWOOD, Kan. — A donation box filled with money to help provide care for injured animals was taken from a non-profit in Linwood, Kansas.

Operation Wildlife posted to their Facebook page saying someone swiped the box right from the counter in their main office. Hundreds of dollars was believed to be inside the donation box.

The money collected helps Operation Wildlife provide free care before releasing the animals back into the wild. Without donations, they wouldn't be able to remain open.

Diane Johnson first noticed the box was missing on Thursday morning and is still shocked someone would do something like this.

"I just really hope that whoever got the money that was in that box, that they use that money for like Christmas presents for their kids or food for their family or maybe they had to pay their rent, it would really tick me off if they just did it for grins and giggles," said Diane Johnson, Executive Director of Operation Wildlife.

Operation Wildlife has been around for nearly 30 years and has never had anything like this happen before.
