KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police in Kansas City, Mo., said one man was critically hurt after a car smashed into a tree.
It happened around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday near 77th Street and Lydia Avenue.
First responders say it took them more than an hour to free the driver from the car; he was in critical condition when they took him to the hospital. A passenger in the car was also seriously hurt.
Police say they believe the driver of the car was speeding at some point before the crash; they said they didn't chase after the vehicle because that was only a traffic violation.
